While reading Cynthia O'Neal's daily advice in out magazine, I came across a letter that piqued my interest.
In this letter the man complained about he and his partners getting on each others nerves and their lack of friends....O'neals advice was right on the money...so what am I piqued about....
Her reply had a phrase in it that I felt needed to be expounded upon...
The beginning of her reply.... "I often get letters from people who, with their partner, seem to have created rather isolated lives." --O'Neal
While it is true that couples do pull away from the "gay community" a bit when they couple, it is also true that the community pushes them a bit to because the members of the "community" are not usually in relationships. It is primely a single community.
This force is important to recognize and work through in order for couples to be able to people their lives with members of the "gay community"
So by all means people your lives with others than just your partner. It will enrich you, and your relationship!
